12th February 2024

MSI Reproductive Choices UK is now providing Local Authority-funded long-acting contraception services for anyone living or registered with a GP in Lambeth, increasing choice for anyone looking to access contraception in the area.

The fitting and removal of the non-hormonal coil, the hormonal coil and the contraceptive implant will now be offered.

What is long-acting reversible contraception?

Long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) methods include the hormonal coil, the non-hormonal coil, the implant and the injection. They offer excellent protection against pregnancy, ranging from three months up to ten years.

They’re ideal if you know that you do not want to have children for a while. In fact, once in place, you don’t need to think about these methods until they need replacing, and none of them interrupt sex.

LARC methods can also be used to manage heavy periods, help conditions such as endometriosis and as part of a hormone replacement therapy.

I’m living/registered with a GP in Lambeth: how can I book a contraception appointment with MSI UK?

To book an appointment for coil or implant fitting or removal:

  • Call our dedicated line to book your telephone consultation: 0345 300 2350. The line is available every day, from 7AM – 6PM.
  • During this telephone consultation, you will speak with one of MSI UK’s trained advisors about the different methods and the best option for you.
  • Based on your needs and your chosen contraception method, we will then book an appointment for you at one of our clinics in London.

You do not need a GP referral to access these services.

Where can I have my contraception appointment?

As long as you live or are registered with a GP in Lambeth, you can attend any of our clinics in London for your contraception appointment.

Which contraceptive method is right for me?

We know that when it comes to contraception, it’s not a one-size-fits-all approach. There are many reasons you may prefer one method over another, and the type of contraception that works best for you will depend on a number of things, including your medical history.

During your appointment, we will help you understand all of your options, and will support you in your choice.

This includes any concerns that you may have in relation to pain and having a coil or implant fitted.

If you would like to compare a range of contraceptive methods, you can use our contraception comparison table here.
