A new paper published in the International Journal of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (IJOG) calls for urgent reform of abortion law across the UK. The paper, written by Dr Jonathan Lord and Professor Dame Lesley Regan, sets out the history of abortion rights, access, and law across the UK, with a particular focus on the importance of collaboration across the pro-choice movement.

Commenting on the paper, MSI’s UK Head of External Affairs Louise McCudden said:

“We welcome this new paper from Dr Jonathan Lord and Professor Dame Lesley Regan, which calls for abortion law to be urgently reformed. This makes essential reading for anyone seeking to understand the context around abortion law in England and Wales.

“It comes as campaigners including MSI Reproductive Choices UK call on MPs to vote in favour of Diana Johnson’s amendment to the Criminal Justice Bill, which come before the House in the coming weeks. If passed, would mean that no one faces prosecution for ending their own pregnancy.”
